This article will go over the most frequently asked questions when getting started with your Custom Church App. Your app is a powerful tool to help you engage with and grow your church, so let's dive in!
Where do I start?
- If you haven't already, you'll want to sign up for the Custom Church App. You can do this by following the steps in: Getting Started With Your Custom Church App.
- Once you've submitted your App Design Form, you will either land in your Tithely Dashboard, or be directed to the App Dashboard once our team has completed your initial app build.
- The App Dashboard allows you to manage all of the content for your app. You can check out the App Dashboard Tutorial to learn more. The main areas you'll likely want to start editing in the app dashboard are your home screen layout, the More menu tabs, and other areas like events or push notifications.
- As you make changes in your app dashboard, you can view them live in your app. Your app can be accessed with your App Download Link.
- When you're ready to share your app with your church, you will do so by sharing your App Download Link. We have put together excellent, customizable Launch Resources to help you in sharing your app with your church!
Why do I have to wait for my App Download Link?
- Your app download link may not be available immediately when you access your App Dashboard. Once your custom download link is created, it can be found by App Admin in your App Dashboard under Settings (Home) > App Download Link (Only Admin) [see screenshot below]. Your app download link will be available 2 - 3 days after you have begun your app build process.
What is the App Download Link?
- Your app download link is a customized link that will allow your church members to download the Tithely Church App and simultaneously have your unique church app loaded into this container app. This means that your church members will not need to search for the Tithely Church App within the App Stores, or search within the Tithely Church App for your church.
- Mobile Device: When users access the app download link from a mobile device, they will be taken straight to the App Store and prompted to download the Tithely Custom Church app. Once they download this app, your church's unique app will automatically be loaded into this container app.
- Desktop: When users access the app download link from a desktop, they will be taken to a screen with a QR code to scan on their mobile device. Once they scan the QR code on their mobile device, they will be taken straight to the App Store and prompted to download the Tithely Custom Church app. Once they download this app, your church's unique app will automatically be loaded into this container app.
Can I edit my App Download Link?
- While you aren't able to directly edit your link, if you reach out to Support and request this we can help adjust the link for you.
Where is my app icon? When will it update?
- Your app icon will swap on the home page of your device. It will be updated 1 - 2 weeks after your app is initially built.
How do I give others admin access to the app?
- You can edit your User Permissions in your Tithely Organization settings. The Account Owner and Admin levels will have access to apps. You can also set up Limited Access Users for Apps. Here are some articles going over these steps:
Does all of this mean that my unique app will be on the Apple and Google App Stores?
- No. By default, all Tithely Custom Church Apps are held within the container app of the Tithely Custom Church App. The Tithely Custom Church App is the app that's searchable within the App and Google Play stores. Once the Tithely Custom Church App is downloaded, users can search for your church and your app will load in, and the app icon will also be updated to match yours. You can also share your app download link with your users, which will take them directly to your specific app, rather than them having to search in the app store or in the container app.
- If you'd like your specific app to be searchable on its own in the App and Google Play stores, you'd need developer accounts with Apple and Google. If this is something you're interested in, check out these articles for more information:
