Understanding the Church App Feedback

Summary: This guide explains how the in-app feedback tray works within the Tithely Church App. It covers how users can submit feedback, request a follow-up, and how the app intelligently prompts for App Store reviews to help boost your church app's ratings.

Before You Begin

  • Accessing the Tray: Currently, users access the feedback tray by clicking Send Feedback directly from the app's main menu. (Note: In future iterations, this tray may pop up contextually while users are interacting with different parts of the app, like sermon notes or group chats).

  • Account Status: To request follow-up contact from the development team, a user must be signed into their app account. If they are using the app as a guest (signed out), the contact request option will be hidden.

Step-by-Step Instructions

When a user clicks Send Feedback, a tray will pop up at the bottom of their screen presenting three emoji options: Bad, Good, and Great.

Here is what happens based on the user's selection:

1. The "Great" Experience

If a user selects the Great emoji:

  • The Tray Expands: The user is given an optional text box (up to 500 characters) to write specific details about why they love the app.

  • Follow-up Request: If the user is signed in, a checkbox appears stating: "I'd like to have someone reach out for additional feedback." * App Store Prompt: After clicking Submit Feedback, a new prompt will appear asking, "Enjoying Tithely Church App? Tap a star to rate on the App Store." This will redirect the user directly to their device's App Store to leave a high rating.

2. The "Good" Experience

If a user selects the Good emoji:

  • The Tray Expands: The user receives the same optional 500-character text box.

  • Follow-up Request: If signed in, the checkbox to have someone reach out appears.

  • Submission Confirmation: After clicking Submit Feedback, the user sees a simple message: "Thank you for your feedback. Your feedback has been submitted." * (Note: To protect your overall app ratings, "Good" reviews are not redirected to the App Store).

3. The "Bad" Experience

If a user selects the Bad emoji:

  • The Tray Expands: The user receives the optional text box to explain their negative experience or report a bug.

  • Follow-up Request: If signed in, they can check the box to have someone from the product team reach out to help resolve their issue.

  • Submission Confirmation: After clicking submit, they receive a standard "Thank you for your feedback" message. They will not be prompted to leave an App Store rating, reducing the likelihood of public negative reviews.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Why didn't I get a prompt to rate the app on the App Store? The App Store rating prompt is intentionally designed to only appear if you select the "Great" emoji. This ensures that only the most positive user experiences are directed to the public App Store, helping maintain a high rating for your church's app.

  • Why don't I see the checkbox to have someone reach out to me? The "I'd like to have someone reach out for additional feedback" checkbox only appears if you are actively signed into the app. If you are browsing as a guest, the system does not have your contact information, so the checkbox is hidden.
