As an admin, when viewing Transactions in your Tithely account, you may notice different statuses attached. The transaction status helps you quickly understand the current state of each donation or gift. Each status indicates the progress of a transaction towards completion or highlights any issues requiring attention, ensuring admins can efficiently manage and track all financial activities within their organization.
Transaction Status:
-
Succeeded
-
- This means the transaction has succeeded! It will be deposited on the next available deposit window. Please note that when a bank deposit is deposited, your bank may not show the funds for an additional 24 hours.
-
-
Pending
- When a transaction is pending this means it is going through the normal process of verifying the payment details used to make this gift. For credit and debit cards this process can take anywhere from 1-3 business days for ACH/Bank Transfers this can take 4-10 business days depending on the issuing institution.
-
Refunded
- When transactions have been successfully refunded it will have a status of refunded. This action cannot be reversed. As well as ACH transfers require the admin to reach out to support@tithe.ly to issue a refund. The refund can take between 2-5 business days to return to the donor.
-
Failed
- Transactions can fail for a few reasons such as an expired card, insufficient funds, and other reasons. The donor is always notified by email when a gift has failed for recurring donations with instructions on how to make an additional donation. A donor will be notified immediately in app if a gift fails for one time donations.
- Failure Reasons are now included in the Transaction View within Tithely Giving. Admin can click into a specific transaction and see the failure reason, or they can include the column to show on the main transactions page.
-
Requires Action
- The payment attempt needs additional authentication from the donor before it can be completed.
- Typical Cause: This usually happens with 3D Secure (3DS) transactions, where the cardholder’s bank requires the donor to confirm their identity (for example, by entering a code, using their banking app, or confirming via text).
- Next Step: The donor must complete the verification for the payment to succeed. If they don’t, the payment will fail.
- The payment attempt needs additional authentication from the donor before it can be completed.
-
Dispute Pending
- The donor (or their bank) has formally disputed the charge, and the case is under review.
- Typical Cause: The donor may not recognize the transaction, claim fraud, or request a chargeback for other reasons.
- Next Step: The disputed funds are held by Stripe during the investigation. The merchant (you) has the option to submit evidence to contest the dispute before a resolution is made.
- The donor (or their bank) has formally disputed the charge, and the case is under review.
-
Voided
- The payment attempt was unsuccessful because authentication failed or was not completed.
- Typical Cause: This typically occurs when the donor does not pass the 3D Secure verification (e.g., they close the window, enter incorrect credentials, or the bank declines the authentication).
- Next Step: No funds are captured, and the donor may need to try again with successful authentication or a different payment method.
