Creating a Pledge Campaign

Summary: Pledge Campaigns allow donors to commit to a long-term goal, making them a great way to increase giving at your church (e.g., raising $500,000 for a new building). This guide explains how to create a campaign, set your goals, and manage your campaign details.


Before You Begin

  • Permissions Required: You must be an Account Owner, Admin, or have Limited Access with permissions granted to the Giving Product.

  • Irreversible Settings: Please review carefully. Once a campaign is created, neither the Fund nor the Location can be changed.


Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to your Tithely account and select Giving from the left-hand menu.

  2. Select Pledge Campaigns and click the New Campaign + button.

  3. Enter your preliminary campaign details into the provided fields. You will need to provide the Campaign Name/Title, Church Location/Campus, Goal, Fund, Start Date, and End Date. (Note: The campaign will appear as a draft at the top of the list. The details in the draft will not update as you type, but will refresh once you proceed to the next step).

  4. Click the Continue to Details button.

  5. Navigate your new campaign using the five available tabs in the Pledge Campaign dashboard:

    • Dashboard: Displays giving analytics for the campaign's progress.

    • Donors: Provides details for all pledges, as well as donations made toward the campaign.

    • Details: Allows you to customize the branding and styling of the campaign.

    • Notifications: Gives you control over the types of notifications that admins and donors receive.

    • Webpage: Copies your link and embed code for sharing, and allows you to customize the fields shown on your webpage.

  6. Put the campaign into a Staged state when you are ready. It will automatically go live when your set start date is reached.


Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • What happens if I use an existing Fund for my campaign? A popup will explain that any donation made to that fund during your campaign timeframe will be applied to the campaign, regardless of whether it was made through the pledge tool. You can also manually apply past gifts that were made to the fund toward the campaign, even if the campaign didn't exist yet when the gifts were given.

  • How do donors view their Pledge Summary? Donors can return to the Pledge form and click the Login button in the top-right corner. This page shows their Pledge Progress (a progress bar showing how much has been given), Recurring Gifts (which they can edit or delete), and Donation History. They can also set up new recurring payments from this screen.

  • Can a donor change the start date of their pledge? Yes. The campaign form assumes donors will view it during the campaign's designated start and end dates. However, if a donor is setting up a pledge early, they can click the start date field on the form and select their preferred custom start date.
