Managing My Donor Payment Method (Desktop)

This article guides church donors on efficiently managing their payment methods within their Tithely account. It focuses on the clear process of adding new payment methods, including credit/debit cards, bank accounts, and Canadian Pre-Authorized debits, along with detailed instructions for manual bank verification. Readers will also learn how to view existing payment methods and securely remove them when no longer needed, with important considerations for recurring donations. 

Tithely Tip

If you are removing a payment method connected to a recurring donation, you will need to remove your recurring donation first and then set up a new recurring donation with your new updated payment method. You can also quickly add a payment method when making a donation, simply click Change Payment Method. 

 

Adding a Payment Method

  1. Log In to your donor account and select Payments (in the top menu options).
  2. View your existing Payment Methods.
    • Each payment method entry includes details such as payment type (Card or Bank), last four digits of the card or Bank account, and expiration date (only applicable for cards). Expired cards will be marked with the word "Expired."
  3. Select Add New Payment Method towards the bottom of your screen and select the type of payment method you would like to add.
    • Card
    • Google Pay
    • Bank Account
  4. Fill in the required details.
    • Card
      • Card Number.
      • Expiration Date.
      • Security Code.
      • Country.
      • Zip Code.
    • Bank Account
      • Search for your Bank.
      • Select your Banking institution.
      • Follow the prompts to log in and connect your Bank account.
  5. Save by clicking Add New Payment Method to add your new payment method. Once a new Payment Method has been added, it will display in your list of Payment Methods on File and will be available for making donations.
     

Adding a Bank as a Payment Method (Manual Bank Verification)

  1. Log In to your donor account and select Payments (in the top menu options).
  2. Select Add New Payment Method towards the bottom of your screen and select the US Bank account.
  3. Select Enter Bank details manually instead (may take 1-2 business days).
  4. Enter the following details:
    • Routing number
    • Account number
    • Confirm account number.
  5. Click Submit. A Micro-deposit will be initiated into your Bank account within 1-2 business days. 
    Note: You will receive an email once the deposits are completed. There is a ten-day verification window, if this is missed you will need to restart this process. The verification code is found in your Bank statement in the transaction description. This will be the first section of numbers and letters before "-Tithely". An example is shown below.

  6. You will receive a confirmation email once you initiate the manual Bank verification. Once the deposits are verified you will be able to use the newly added Bank account for donations.
    Note: You can check the status any time by viewing the Payment Method section of the giving form.
     

Adding a Payment Method (Canadian Pre-Authorized)

  1. Log In to your donor account and select Payments (in the top menu options).
  2. Select Add New Payment Method towards the bottom of your screen and select the Pre-Authorized Debit.
  3. Select Enter Bank details manually instead (may take 1-2 business days).
  4. Select your Bank and Enter details:
    • Client Card or Username
    • Password
  5. Once your Bank is connected you will be able to make donations immediately. 
     

Delete a Payment Method

  1. Log In to your donor account and select Payments (in the top menu options).
  2. View your existing Payment Methods.
    • Each payment method entry includes details such as payment type (Card or Bank), last four digits of the card or Bank account, and expiration date (only applicable for cards). Expired cards will be marked with the word "Expired."
  3. Click the Trash button on the right side of the payment method details. A popup will appear, asking you to Confirm the action. Note: If you proceed with the deletion, the payment method will be removed from the list.
