Failed Credit Card Payments for Subscriptions

What happens when my subscription payment method fails? Managing your subscriptions and billing in Tithely is simple, but sometimes a credit card payment may fail. If this happens, there is no need to take immediate action— unless you are aware of changes to your card or need to use a different payment method. Tithely will automatically attempt to charge the card again. Below, we outline what happens when a payment fails and what to expect before a subscription is canceled

What Happens When a Payment Fails?

If a subscription payment fails, Tithely will automatically retry the payment after a few days. The system makes multiple attempts before canceling the subscription.

How Many Times Will Tithely Retry the Payment?

  • Tithely will retry the payment four times over an eight-day period.
  • If all attempts fail, the subscription will be automatically canceled at the end of the eight-day grace period.

What Should Admins Do?

  • No action is required immediately, as the system will attempt to charge again up to four more times over a series of eight days.
  • If the payment continues to fail, the Account Owner or Admin should update the payment method. Each time your payment method fails the account owner will receive an email.

Tithely Tip

You will have eight days to update your payment method before your subscription is suspended/canceled. During these eight days, you will receive a series of emails from Tithely to assist you in fixing the problem and ensuring you do not experience any pause in service.
