How to Verify Your Bank Account with Micro-Deposits

Summary: This guide explains how to complete the micro-deposit verification process to confirm your bank account for secure giving. This ensures your account is valid and ready for donations.

Before You Begin

  • Timeline: Micro-deposits typically take 1-2 business days to appear in your bank account (allow extra time for weekends or holidays).

  • Check Your Statement: Before starting the steps below, log in to your online banking and verify that the deposits have arrived. You will see either one single deposit with a specific code or two small deposits.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Tithely Giving App or your church’s Giving Form.

    • Alternative: You can also click the link in the verification email sent to you when you first added the bank account.

  2. Select Payments from the menu and click on the bank account marked Pending Verification.

  3. Click the Verify button to begin the confirmation process.

  4. Enter the verification details based on what you see on your bank statement:

    • If you received ONE deposit: Look at the transaction description on your bank statement for a code starting with "SM" (e.g., SM12AB). Enter the 4 numbers and/or letters that come after "SM" into the verification field.

    • If you received TWO deposits: Click the link that says "I received two micro-deposits." Then, enter the exact amounts of the two small deposits you received.

  5. Confirm the information to complete the process.

    • Once verified, your bank account will be immediately activated as a payment method for secure giving.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • How long do I have to wait for the deposits? Micro-deposits typically take 1-2 business days to reflect in your account. If it is a weekend or holiday, please allow additional time for your bank to process the transaction.

  • I only see one deposit, but I don't see an "SM" code. You may need to expand the transaction details in your online banking view to see the full description (memo) line. The code will be 4 characters long (letters or numbers) following "SM".

  • Why do I need to do this? This process confirms that you are the authorized owner of the bank account. It is a security measure used by our payment processor, Stripe, to prevent fraud and ensure secure payments.
