If you are using an Android tablet, follow these instructions before opening a Kiosk Mode session on your browser. While Kiosk Mode is design with built in security features, there are a few recommended settings local to Android tablets that complement the security of Kiosk Mode and will enhance the donor experience. Additionally, it is recommended that you use Chrome as the browser to host Kiosk Mode on an Android tablet.
The first of these recommended settings is app pinning.
To turn on app pinning:
- Open your settings.
- Tap on Security & Privacy.
- Tap on More security & privacy.
- Tap on App Pinning.
- Toggle Use app pinning to On.
- Toggle Ask for Pin before unpinning to On.
Note: Make sure you know the access pin for your device.
The second key setting to update is to turn off Save and fill payment methods and contact info in Chrome. While Kiosk Mode is built to protect user information, turning off Save and fill payment methods will give you and your users that extra piece of mind.
To Turn Off Save and fill Payment Methods:
- On your Android device, open Chrome.
- To the right of the address bar, tap More.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Payment Methods.
- Toggle Save and fill payment methods to Off.
- Open your device settings
- Navigate to General Management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard Settings
- Toggle Predictive Text to off.
Finally, you need to make sure your Android device display stays on for as long as possible.
To Adjust Screen Settings:
- Open your settings.
- Tap Display.
- Tap Screen timeout.
- Select 30 minutes.
Caution
It is not possible to prevent screen timeout on an Android device after 30 minutes of inactivity. Options to prevent this from happening include either making sure someone takes any kind of action on the screen within a 30 minute window (even a simple touch), or, if that is not possible, it is suggested to consider switching to iPad as your Kiosk Mode device.
