In this article, we'll provide an overview of the Tithely Pay App, highlighting its features and functionalities. As Tithely Pay sunsets on May 11, 2026, we recommend transitioning to Square or Clover if your church is looking for a point-of-sale (POS) solution for in-person transactions. Your Tithely Pay App will no longer be available after May 11th.
Processing a Payment in Tithely Pay
Learn how to process a credit, debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay payment in Tithely Pay below.
- Open the Tithely Pay app on your device and log in.
- Connect your card reader.
If you need help connecting your card reader please refer to these steps. - Ensure you are in the Kiosk section of the Tithely Pay app.
- Enter the amount to charge and press “Purchase Now”.
Please Note: The minimum purchase amount is $1.00 - Swipe/ Insert /Tap the card to be charged.
Payment methods accepted are:- Credit Cards and AMEX
- Debit Cards
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Samsung Pay
- Tithely Pay will process the transaction and let you know if it was approved. This might take a few seconds. Once the payment is approved you're done! You can email a receipt if requested at this stage.
- If there is a problem with the card you can enter card details manually by clicking the ‘Enter Manually’ option at the bottom of the screen.
Payment Flexibility with Tithely Pay: Accepting All Major Cards
Accepted Cards for Tithely Pay Transactions:
- Broad Compatibility: Tithely Pay proudly accepts all major credit and debit card brands.
- Including American Express: Your donors can use their American Express cards along with other widely recognized brands.
- No Restrictions: Whether it's VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or AMEX, Tithely Pay is equipped to handle it, making the donation process easy and inclusive for everyone.
Current State of Sales Tax Input on Tithely Pay:
- Manual Inclusion: At present, any state or provincial taxes need to be manually included in the price of the items sold.
Processing a Refund in Tithely Pay
- Open the Tithely Pay app on your device and log in.
- Click the Activity section of the Tithely Pay app.
- Find the purchase to refund.
Note: If the transaction was recent, you may see it quickly in the activity view. If you don't, that's no problem! We’ve created filters to help with that.- To help you search for a specific transaction, Tithely Pay offers the ability to filter transactions:
- To access the filtering options, press the filter button to the right of the “Activity” text at the top of the Activity section. Filter by:
- Cardholder name.
- The last 4 digits on the card.
- Specific date or date range.

- To help you search for a specific transaction, Tithely Pay offers the ability to filter transactions:
- Press the black button to the right of any transaction to refund the transaction.
- When you press the button, the Tithely Pay app will ask you to confirm that you want to refund the transaction.
Note: You can view additional purchase details by clicking the white portion of the purchase. You will also be able to send an email receipt or refund by clicking here as well. - Confirm the refund. Once a refund has been processed, the black button, you clicked to refund the purchase will be greyed out. This shows the refund is complete.
Note: The customer can expect a refund back in their account in the next 3-5 business days.
How to View Transactions in Tithely Pay App
- Launch the Tithely Pay app from your device.
- Log in to Tithely Pay.
- Select the Hamburger Menu in the top right to expand the menu.
- Select Activity.
- Locate and view transactions.
Filtering Transactions in Tithely Pay App
You can view all transactions in the Tithely Pay app within the Activity section.
To help you search for a specific transaction, Tithely Pay offers the ability to filter transactions by:
- The last 4 digits on the card
- A specific date or date range
You can search by any of the above options individually or combine them for faster results!

Please be advised that if a payment is made using Tap to pay, Google Pay, or Apple Pay, the payment method information will not be disclosed or visible.
- To search using filters, simply navigate to the Activity section from the menu in Tithely Pay.
Accessing Filtering Options
- Open Filter Options: Press the filter button to the right of the “Activity” text at the top of the Activity section.
- View Purchase Details: Click the white portion of any purchase to view details. Here you can send an email receipt or refund the payment.
Filter by Name or Card Number
- Open Filter Options: Access the filter options by pressing the filter button.

Enter Search Details: Type the purchaser’s name or the last 4 digits of the card number into the search field.
- Note: Only search by the last 4 digits of the card number. Searching by the entire card number will return no results.
- Initiate Search: Press the Search button on the keyboard to begin the search.
Filtering by Date
- Open Date Filtering Options: Select the calendar icon on the right side of the filter options.
- Filter by Date Range: By default, you can filter by a date range.
- Filter by Single Date: To filter by a specific date, select the Single Date option.
Clearing Filters

Clear Filters: Press the Clear button beside the Filter image at the top of the screen.
Note: The Clear button will only appear if there are currently active filters.
How to Refund A Tithely Pay Transaction
Refunding Steps:
- Launch the Tithely Pay app from your device.
- Log into Tithely Pay.
- Select the Hamburger Menu in the top right to expand the menu.
- Select Activity.
- Locate the transaction you would like to Refund.
- Select Refund.
- This transaction will be refunded immediately and will appear back in the payees account in 5-7 business days.
Important Notes:
- Tithely Pay App: Refunds for Tithely Pay purchases can only be processed through the Tithely Pay app.
- Device Flexibility: While refunds aren't available through the Tithely Admin area, you can use any iOS device to access the app and initiate a refund.
- Convenience: Handle refund requests on-the-go by using your iPhone, ensuring you can assist customers immediately, regardless of their purchase location.
Emailing a Receipt in Tithely Pay
Email a Receipt at the Time of Purchase
- Transaction Success Screen: Once a transaction is successfully processed, you will see a success screen displaying the card type, the last 4 digits of the card number, a Done button, and an Email Receipt button.
- Send Receipt: Press the Email Receipt button.
- Enter Email Address: Fill in the purchaser’s email address in the field provided and send the receipt.
Note: If Apple Pay or Google Pay is used, it can be difficult to look up a receipt in the future since no name is saved and the card number will not match the actual credit card number. Encourage the purchaser to send a receipt immediately, especially for items that could be returned.
Email a Receipt at Any Time
- Navigate to Activity Section: From the menu in Tithely Pay, go to the Activity section.

Find the Transaction: Locate the transaction for which you need to send a receipt.
- To help search for a specific transaction, Tithely Pay allows you to filter transactions by:
- Cardholder name
- The last 4 digits of the card

Can I Customize Tithely Pay Receipts?
When it comes to personalizing the payment experience in Tithely Pay, you may wonder about customizing the emailed receipts sent to donors or customers.
Status of Email Receipt Customization:
- Current Limitation: As of now, the ability to customize the email receipts issued by Tithely Pay is not available.
- Standard Receipts: All email receipts sent post-transaction will follow the standard Tithely Pay format.
Tithely Pay Email Receipt Details
Receipts include the following details about the purchase:
- Organization name
- Purchase Total
- Card type
- Date of purchase
- Time of purchase
- Last 4 digits on the credit card
Please Note: If Apple Pay or Google Pay is used for purchasing, it can be hard to look up a receipt in the future using Tithely Pay since no name is saved and the card number will not match the actual credit card number. If Apple Pay or Google Pay is used then it is a good idea to encourage the purchaser to send a receipt (especially if the item being purchased is something that could be returned).
Email receipts also include the ability to quickly and easily donate $1, $5, $10 from the top portion of the receipt.
An Overview of the Tithely Pay Cart
How to View the Cart
- Open Cart: Click the Cart button located at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen on the iOS Tithely Pay app.
How to Clear the Cart
- Clear Cart: To clear your cart, drag the round button and slide it to the right.
How to Delete a Product from the Cart
- Open Cart: Click the Cart button.
- Delete Item: Click the X button to the right of the item you wish to delete.
Alternatively, you can delete an item from the Shop dashboard:
- Identify Item: Items already added to the cart will have a check mark and quantity in the upper left-hand corner of the image.
- Click Image: Click on the item image and then click the delete button.
How to Change Product Quantities in the Cart
- Open Cart: Click the Cart button and then click the quantity, or click the item from the Shop.
- Adjust Quantity: Use the display to increase or decrease the quantity of the item.
The Tithely Pay Shop
How to Access the Tithely Pay Shop
- Open the Tithely Pay App: Launch your Tithely Pay app and log into your account.
- Open the Shop Area: Click the Shop tab located in the bottom center of the screen.
- Add Categories or Products: If you haven’t added categories or products yet, you’ll be prompted to do so. Click Add Items to Shop to create categories.
How to Add Items to Your Cart
- Access the Shop Dashboard: From the Shop dashboard, locate the item you want to add.
- Add an Item: Tap the product image. A tab in the upper left-hand corner of the image will display a check mark and the quantity added, indicating it’s in your cart.
- View Cart Items: The Shop title also shows the number of items in your cart.
How to Add Multiples of a Product
- Select the Product: Tap the product image once to add a single item.
- Add Multiples: Tap the product image twice to open an edit screen where you can add multiples of the same product quickly.
How to Find an Item by Category
- Filter by Category: Use the row of categories under the Shop title to filter through categories and products.
- Select Category: Tap on the desired category to view only the products belonging to that specific category.
How to Create and Edit Categories in the Pay Shop
- Open the Tithely Pay app on your iOS device and log in.
- Connect your card reader.
Note: If you need help connecting your card reader please refer to these steps. - From the main dashboard, click the triple bar in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The screen will slide to the left, allowing you to choose from a menu. From here, you can click Products to access Categories.
- Follow the instructions below to guide you through how to create a new category, or update an exiting one.
How to Create a Category
- At the bottom of the Categories list, click Add Product Category
- Fill in the Category details:
- Tap to add an image. This will allow you to add an image for the product.
- Add a name that describes the product category
- To add products to the new category, search or scroll to find a product or products, and then select the + button.
Please Note: A product can belong to multiple categories.

Press the Save Product Category button.
A category will display in the Category list, but not the Shop until products are added.
How to Edit a Category
- From the Categories list, click on the category you'd like to edit.
- Click Edit, in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
- Edit the Category details:
- Change the category image
- Update the category name
- To delete a product, search or scroll to find the product and select the X button
- To add a new product to the category, select the + button
- Press the Save Product Category
The Tithely Pay Keypad
How to Access the Keypad
- Open the Tithely Pay app on your iOS device and log in.
- Click the Keypad tab at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen.
If you're in the Categories area: To get back to the dashboard from the Category list, click <Categories, then click Shop, then click the Keypad tab.
How to Add a Custom Item

Click the Cart+ button below the "9" key on the Keypad.
If you're in the Cart, click the + button next to add a custom item.
Once the item has been added to the Cart, you can delete the item or edit the quantity.
Monitoring the Cart
You can monitor the Cart from within the Keypad. The badge over the Cart tab shows you how many items are in your cart. This allows you to see, at a glance, that your custom item has in fact been added.
