This guide is to assist in the installation of a Panini Vision E scanner on a Windows device. These steps are necessary in order to use Check Scanning through Tithely.
Device Requirements
Computer
For Check Scanning to operate correctly you will need a Windows device with an updated version of Windows along with an internet connection. While the scanner is designed to work with Windows 7 and newer, it is recommended to update to the latest version as this will provide the best experience.
Check Scanner
The supported model for Check Scanning through Tithely is the Panini Vision E and this must be purchased by working with Tithely. Other devices are not supported and they should not be attempted to be used.
1. Connect your Scanner
On the back of your Check Scanner you will notice 3 ports along with the Power button:
Most customers will be using the Check Scanner in a wired configuration, which is preferred for reducing the potentials of network issues. The provided USB cable (likely a gray/white color) should be plugged in to the far right port on the Check Scanner and then connected to your computer. If you are using a USB adapter or docking station ensure that the connection is secure. If you experience any connectivity issues when using an adapter please connect the Check Scanner directly to your computer or to a powered adapter.
2. Power your Scanner
Once you have the USB cable connected, you can connect the power cord, and the press the power button. You will notice the green light flashing on the top of the scanner and then it should turn solid green. You should also hear the sound of the Check Scanner going through it’s self-check process (you will hear the motor running briefly).
3. Access Scanner Page
Once the Check Scanner is connected to your computer and powered on, the Windows Update program will likely prompt you to install the correct software drivers.
If there is not a prompt to install the correct drivers, you can download them directly from Panini via this page.
Once the drivers are downloaded, you will open the file and follow the prompts to install the driver onto your computer.
4. Configure Scanner
Once the Check Scanner driver is installed, you will need to configure it to work correctly (and securely) with Tithely. To do this you will first navigate to http://192.168.101.1/ in your web browser.
If for some reason this will not open, you can try http://192.168.101.1/
When you are able to get this page open, you should see the scanner’s details. From the left hand menu you want to click on Configuration:
When you click on Configuration you will see the below menu options. From this menu click on Connection Parameters Setup.
Once on the Connection Parameters Setup and press next which will open a new page and you will see the following options:
On this page you will want to take the following steps:
- Change the dropdown next to HTTPS: to be Default Certificate
- Add vision as the Device Name
- Click on Root CA Certificate Download (PEM Format) to download this to your computer
Note: Do NOT yet press the Set Configuration button
Install Security Certificate
Once you have downloaded the certificate, open the file from your downloads folder and choose Open to begin the installation process.
Within the Certificate Settings choose to Install Certificate, and then choose Next.
Select Local Machine as the Store Location and choose Next
Note: Depending on your computer software you may or may not see the option to select the Store Location. If not, simply skip to the next step.
Choose the option for Place all certificates in the following store, and then click Browse
Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and choose Ok.
Back on the Certificate Import Wizard you can choose Next and then Finish.
The Check Scanner certificate is now properly installed and you can choose Ok to close the Installation Wizard.
Once the certificate is installed you can return to the Check Scanner Settings page and click on the Set Configuration button.
Once the configuration is saved, you will need to choose the option to reboot the scanner.
The scanner will take a few minutes to reboot, and once you see the green light turn solid, and hear the motor go through the self-check again you will know that you are ready to use it!
Congratulations - your scanner is now ready to be used with Check Scanning through Tithely!
