When generating a Tax Statement, you can choose to generate a statement for every donor or to generate a single statement for an entire Household. This is helpful when donors are part of a Household in Tithely People, perhaps a married couple that files their taxes together.
You can generate a new batch of tax statements with donors grouped into Households, or you can regenerate an old batch of tax statements so that it groups by Households. We'll guide you through how to do both below. Generating statements by household means only the designated head of the household will receive a statement for all donors inside that household.

How to Use Households for Tax Statements
We recommend waiting until January 15th to run your year end tax statements. This allows time for all transactions to deposit and and be recorded properly.
-
Login to your Tithely account and select Giving.
-
Select Tax Statements from the Giving menu.
-
Choose your desired Year/Date Range and Location.
NOTE: Users with limited access can only generate and view previously generated tax statements for locations for which they have permission. -
Select to generate tax statements for Households.
Note: Any donor not associated with a Household will receive a personal tax statement.
For Households, the Primary Household donor's contact information will be used to email the tax statement.
Note: Households will be identifiable by a number next to the Household name. If there is not a number next to a name this means this is an individual. Any donors in a household will only appear in the household and not as individuals on this list.
Limited access users are only able to access and generate tax statements for the locations they have been given access to. Learn more about permissions.
How To Send Separate Tax Statements to Household Members When Generating Tax Statements for Households
There may be cases where you have families that need to be sent individual tax statements. Reasons for this could be:
-
The spouse files taxes as "Married Filing Separately"
-
The Household includes working children that have an income
In these cases, you can mark the Household in People so that the Household will receive separate statements.
-
Login to your Tithely account Select People on the left-hand menu.
-
Select Households from the People menu and select the Household you'd like to edit.
-
Select the Settings button in the top-right corner.
-
Within the Household settings, you'll find a toggle that allows you to opt for the Household to receive individual statements rather than being combined into a single statement. Toggle On to send separate tax statements for the household members.
-
Click Save Changes.
