Financial Settings is relating to the Financial System of the ChMS, there are two areas or TABS - Financial & Giving Statement Templates
Settings > Financial
End of Financial Year--What day and month does your financial year end?
Currency Symbol--What currency symbol relates to your Country.
Tax Deductible Giving--When adding a new transaction, you can “Turn tax deductible giving on by default”. This will overwrite tax deductible settings assigned in your Chart of Accounts.
However, if you prefer to be given an option depending on the different Financial Accounts you have in the Chart of Accounts you can click “Use settings in the Chart of Accounts” which enables you to choose if the different Chart of Accounts within your account are Tax Deductible or not manually.
A giving number is a unique number associated with an individual person. When a transaction is added for that person, do you wish the system to generate a number if they haven’t got one already, or do you wish to create one manually?
Numbers are generated sequentially when automated.
Minimum number length is 6 by default, but you can change this to be more if needed.
In the member area under a person’s “My Profile”, there is an area called Giving. This allows people to see what transactions have been created and recorded for them.
If we go back to the Settings > Financial page you can update what it is that the individuals will see when looking in their “My Profile” page.
This link appears within a person’s “My Profile” page under Giving where they can click to give online using a giving URL you set up within the Financial Settings.
You can choose to show Pledges &/or Giving within a person's 'My Profile' section. You can also include their family members giving data as well.
The Giving area is also where your Churches Giving Statements would appear when generated for the individual to view or download.
Giving Statement Messages
This is the area where you may like to provide a message within your Giving Statements when generated. Example: In the USA the IRA requires churches to have a message saying that “no goods/services were exchanged for these donations”.
Location Specific Messages
If you have more than one Location, you can also add additional message for people specific to the different locations.
Giving Statement Templates TAB
This is the area you can set up the templates of a Giving Statement. Tithe.ly ChMS has a default Template which you can use. Or you can add your own Template.
To create or edit templates used for Giving Statements, navigate to Settings and click on Financial.
From here, click on the ‘Giving Statement Templates’ tab.
Once on this page, you have the option to either select an existing template or create a new one.
Once you have selected a template to edit, you have the option to edit the information that appears in the various areas of the giving statement.
To edit the layout of the page, click the Setup tab.
This will load a window that allows you to change the layout of the giving statement. This includes printer margins, and header/footer sizes, as well any letterheads that are to be used in the statements. These settings are for how large the different areas of the giving statement should be. It’s important to consider that these areas need to be large enough to hold all the data that you want to include in them.
To view how the template will look when you generate giving statements, close the window, and press the ‘Preview Giving Statement’.
This generates a sample giving statement using the template.
