Information for International Donors
Giving across borders is facilitated with ease through Tithely, accommodating donors who are located in a different country from the church they are donating to. Here’s what you need to know as an international donor or as a church receiving international donations.
Donation Process
The donation processes in the currency of the church location's bank account. The donor's bank converts this charge into their local currency at the current exchange rate for the currency conversion. Some banks charge currency conversion fees. For instance, if a donor from France, currently in Africa, decides to donate $100 to a church in the United States using their credit card issued in France, the donation will process as $100 USD, then be converted by the donor's bank into EUR at the current rate (e.g. €86 at a 0.86 conversion rate).
Fees and Charges
Any international transaction fees incurred are a responsibility of the donor and are charged by the donor's bank. Tithely does not charge additional fees for international transactions aside from the normal processing fees.
Expectations for Churches
Churches should be aware that donations from international donors are made in the currency of the church. The actual amount that is represented on the donor's bank statement may differ from your records due to the currency conversion. The conversion rate is determined by the donor's bank at the time of the transaction.
