Scanning a Check

When you've finished setting up Check Scanning and have installed your Scanner, you can start scanning checks. We'll guide you through how to scan a check below.

Important Note: Your organization must be confirmed by ProfitStars before you can scan checks.

User Permissions needed to access Giving 
Account Owner, Admin, or Limited Access with access granted to the Giving Product. If you have additional questions please reference this article.

How to Scan a Check

  1. Login to your Tithely  account.

  2. Select Giving from the left-hand menu.

  3. Select Check Scanning from the Giving menu.

  4. Click the arrow to the right of Check Scanning. In the drop-down menu, click Portal and a new tab will open, allowing a single sign on to the ProfitStars portal.

  5. Once you are in the ProfitStars portal:
    Scroll down and click on the Remote Deposit Complete link OR on the Dashboard menu on the left, choose Transactions and click on the Remote Deposit Complete link.

  6. Click the Create New Deposit button.

  7. Enter details: Deposit Name, Number of checks, and Total Amount
    (Information on Scanner Terminal Number to come)

    Please Note: Location will be set based on the bank information used during the set-up process. To change your location reference our Setting a Location for your Checks / Viewing Details of Batch article. 

  8. Click the Create button.

  9. Scan checks individually.

    🌟 Tithely Tip: Between scans, if you wait a few moments and click the Refresh button, the Deposit Amount will load.

    Please Note: If the deposit amount says ‘To Be Keyed’ wait a few more moments and click the ‘Refresh’ button again.

  10. Check that the Control amount matches the Scanned amount, then click the Complete Deposit button.

  11. Either click the Create New Deposit button to scan a new check batch or click the Close Deposit(s) button.

  12. A pop up will ask Are you sure you want to close the selected deposit(s)? Click Close.

  13. An additional pop up will confirm the deposit has been closed. Click Ok

  14. Return to Tithely Giving and click Check Scanning from the Giving menu on the left-hand side.

  15. Find your deposit under the Deposit Name given when creating the check deposit in ProfitStars.

  16. Click the green arrow symbol on the right to view the details of your newly scanned check batch.

The ability to view the front and back image of the checks and to allocate the amounts to the separate funds coming soon 🎉
