Set Up Check Scanning for Your Church

Tithely has partnered with ProfitStars, a leading technology company in the check scanning industry. This partnership helps power our Check Scanning tool in Tithely Giving for churches in the United States. There is a $0.29 fee for each check scan and any miscellaneous charges from ProfitStars will also be passed onto the customer if incurred.

Important Note: Check Scanning will only work in the Google Chrome browser.

Setting Up Check Scanning

In order to use Check Scanning, you must first Apply for a ProfitStars Account. 

Please Note: The application process may take from 7-10 business days to be approved and you may be required to have a reserve account in order to use. If a reserve account is needed you will hear from our team after your application has processed, communicating more information about this and the amount of funds needed in the reserve account. 

To get started with Check Scanning for your church, follow the steps below:

  1. Login to your Tithely account.

  2. Select Giving in the left-hand menu.

  3. Select Check Scanning from the giving menu.

  4. Click the Sign Up button.

  5. Click the Get Started button on the next screen. 
  6. Fill out Basic Details and click the Save & Proceed button.

  7. Click the Organization tab in the gray box on the left, fill out Organization details, and click the Save & Proceed button.

  8. Click the Contacts tab in the gray box on the left, add Contact details for up to two contacts, and click the Save & Proceed button.

  9. Click the Officers tab in the gray box on the left, add Officer details for up to four officers, and click the Save & Proceed button.

  10. Click the Velocity Settings tab in the gray box on the left, fill out Velocity Settings, and click the Save & Proceed button.

    • Velocity Settings are transaction thresholds, specific to your church, that ProfitStars uses to help detect and prevent fraud.

  11. Click the ‘Notifications’ tab in the gray box on the left, add Notifications details for up to five recipients, and click the Save & Proceed button.

  12. Click the ‘Banking’ tab in the gray box on the left, fill out Banking details, and click the Save & Proceed button.

  13. Click the ‘Upload Files’ tab in the gray box on the left, upload the requested files, and click Save & Proceed.

    • The three files being requested by ProfitStars are a voided check, the JHA Merchant Processing Services Agreement, and the last three months of bank statements

  14. Click the Review & Submit tab in the gray box on the left, review the details you’ve entered to ensure accuracy, and submit the application for review.

Once your application with ProfitStars has been approved, you will need to reach out to our Tithely Giving Team Here and provide them with the make, model and serial number of the check scanner(s) you are using. Once our team registers your check scanners you will be ready to start scanning checks!
