  • Elvanto: Church Management software (ChMS) is a product in the tithe.ly software suite that provides community engagement and other useful administrative functionality. It is now referred to as "tithe.ly ChMS"
  • tithe.ly ChMS: This is the same thing as Elvanto. It is the ChMS that is part of the tithe.ly suite of software products.
  • Integration: A web application that "integrates" two different systems. In this case, Tithe.ly Giving data with Elvanto.
  • Deposit: Money that has been added to your banking account. A deposit is made of one or many fund transactions.
  • Transaction: A single exchange of money, usually donations to your organization.

  1. What Information does the integration Import?
    The integration imports deposit information by importing the associated transactions and grouping them by a batch. The other import option is by daily transactions where all transactions in a single day are grouped by the day they occurred in.
  2. Which transactions are imported?
    When you complete the initial setup we import only the most recent deposit or transaction.

    From the time you install the integration, every new deposit will be imported unless you choose to disable or uninstall the integration.

    If the import fails for some reason it will resume importing deposits from the last successful import to ensure that you do not miss any records.

  3. How can I see what information was imported?
    Every time the import runs it will send you a report via email so you can see exactly what was sent.

    You can also access the integration at any time to see a list of imports performed and which transactions were sent in the Activity Dashboard.

  4. Why was no information imported?
    If the import runs and reports no transactions being created the most likely reason is that there are no new transactions.

    You can verify that this is the case by checking your organization's deposit and transaction details from within Tithe.ly.

  5. What should I do if importing encountered an error?
    If you see an error (either in the email report or in your Activity Dashboard) please notify customer support so that we can assist you. You can reach support with the information at https://get.tithe.ly/contact.

  6. What happens if I uninstall the integration?
    If you choose to uninstall the integration for your organization importing will stop and all data recorded in the integration will be deleted.

    You will NOT lose any data in tithe.ly giving, nor in ChMS.

    If you choose to install the integration at a later date you will need to complete the initial setup process including mapping funds and setting default account information.

  7. What happens if I modify or delete a transaction or batch in tithe.ly ChMS?
    Modifying the transaction or batch records in tithe.ly ChMS does not change any records in the integration's Activity Dashboard. The movement of data is from Tithe.ly, through the integration, and into ChMS.

    Future imports will not overwrite your changes in tithe.ly ChMS nor will they restore a record that you deleted in tithe.ly ChMS.

  8. Who can access the integration?

    To access integrations, the user must be a primary admin or:
    1. have access to Giving as any form of admin, and
    2. have the 'finance' permission

    The primary admin is typically the user who first created the account. If you are uncertain about your roles or permission please contact support at https://get.tithe.ly/contact.

  9. What happens if a customer has different currencies used in tithe.ly Giving and tithe.ly ChMS?

    tithe.ly ChMS currently does not support sending different currencies. We will pass on the gross amounts of the transaction to tithe.ly ChMS and it will interpret it in whatever currency is configured for the organization. If you have multiple Tithe.ly locations that are receiving payments in a variety of currencies, you may have incorrect values as no conversion is done. We recommend only enabling locations in the integration that have the same currency as the tithe.ly ChMS integration.
  10. How are timezone handled in the integration?

    All dates and times in Tithe.ly Giving and the integration will be shown the currently logged in user's timezone. The dates and times shown in the batch name of imported transactions will use this same timezone.
  11. If I'm migrating from the original integration, what will happen to my Giving Types?
    Users of the original Elvanto integration were required to duplicate their Elvanto chart of accounts in Tithely as Giving Types

    For these users, when you first install the new integration we automatically setup a new feature - Fund Mappings.

    A Fund Mapping is a record that allows you to specify how a Tithely Giving Type is matched to an tithe.ly ChMS account when a record is created.

    You can manually edit these at any time. This is especially important if you add a new Giving Type in Tithely.

    When you install the integration we attempt to automatically create these mappings based on the following rules:
  • The Giving Type name has to be unique
  • The Giving Type name and Tithe.ly ChMS Account name have to match exactly
  • Any existing fund mappings won’t be overwritten
  • Names are case insensitive
