Step 1: Installing Device Control

Note: The Device Control will need to be installed before you can begin making deposits

1. Choose ‘Check Scanning’ from the Giving menu on the left

2. Click the arrow to the left of ‘Check Scanning’

3. In the dropdown menu, click ‘Portal’ and a new tab will open, allowing a single sign on to the ProfitStars portal

4. Once in the ProfitStars portal, scroll down and click on the ‘Remote Deposit Complete’ link or in the Dashboard menu on the left, choose Transactions and click on the ‘Remote Deposit Complete’ link


If using a PC:

5. If using Explorer: A Device Control prompt will appear, click ‘Run’

If using Chrome: Click the ‘DeviceControlInstaller’ that loads in the bottom left of the page


6. Once the install wizard tool appears, click ‘Install’

7. If a prompt appears to ensure that you have the credentials to continue installation, click ‘OK’

8. Enter your username and password and click ‘Install Software’

9. A message that reads “Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?” may appear, click ‘Yes’

If using a Mac:

1. Click the ‘DeviceControlInstaller’ download that loads in the bottom left of the page

2. Once the install wizard tool appears, click ‘Continue’

3. Click ‘Install’

4. If prompted, enter your username and password and click ‘Install Software’

5. A ‘Complete Device Control Setup’ window will appear, click ‘Complete’

6. When prompted, enter your username and password and click ‘Update Settings’

7. Once the software is installed, a message will read ‘The installation was successful,’ click ‘Close’


Step 2: Installing the Check Scanner

Note: Whether using a Mac or a PC, SmartPay only supports Chrome

1. In the SmartPay Manager, click ‘Manage Customers’ in the Dashboard menu on the left

2. Click the arrow button under the ‘Select’ column

3. Click ‘Configurations and Settings’ under ‘Management Options’

4. Click ‘Scanner Management’

5. Click ‘Add Scanner’ on the right side of the page

6. Enable the scanner by clicking the toggle next to ‘Scanner Enabled’ so that it shows blue with a white checkmark

7. Add Scanner Details and click ‘Add’

8. Your check scanner is now installed, and you are able to scan your first deposit!
